About
Same kid,
better tools.
I've been obsessed with web development since I was ten, and building sites for clients since 2004. No formal training, no agency-bred process, just me and whatever the web could teach me: Google, W3Schools, view-source, and a lot of trial and error. Hundreds of projects later, the curiosity hasn't worn off.
Today I run three things, all remote: two web design and development studios, Carefree Creative and PerfectWebsite.Design, and a SaaS, Website Form Checker. The work comes down to two things for me: authenticity and usability. Whatever a visitor came for should be easy to reach, never something they have to hunt for. That, more than anything, is what good design is, in my opinion.
Outside of websites, I'm a photographer, a hiker, I fly drones, and I travel constantly. I'm always working on some project. Most of what I shoot ends up on Carefree, adventures and landscapes from the ground and the air, and a growing chunk is available as prints. The web work, the photography, and the travel all feed each other.
Between trips, home base is Maine. The inbox is open, for a website, a project, a print, or just a conversation.
